{Featured} This Time It’s Me!

Wow, I am really goofy excited to tell you that I’m featured! I’m no rockstar photographer, so this makes my day! I’m honored that Echo Day of Echo Day Photography in Tennessee is featuring an interview with me (yes, me! This is so fun!) on her photography blog. She asked me some great questions, so if you’re curious about how I got started with all of this (Hint: I was a MWAC!) and what equipment I use, etc. be sure to check it out.

Thank you, Echo. I’m honored!

500th Fan Mini Session Giveaway! Maternity Session in Virginia Beach

One of the goals on my business list for 2010 is to give away some of my session time. I decided recently to give away a mini session when I reached 500 fans on Facebook and again when I reach 600 fans. On the night I was closing in on 500 fans, Jessica left me a message saying she couldn’t schedule the maternity shoot she’d been planning on because she had some unexpected expenses come up as a result of a move coming up. I emailed her that night and awarded her the 500th fan mini session winner!

I photographed an engagement session with Jessica and her fiance Jake a few months ago. Jake and Jessica came to Hampton Roads via the Navy. They met through mutual friends but Jake moved to Illinois to pursue his degree not long into their dating. Their relationship developed “pretty much long distance,” says Jessica. After about a year of the long distance relationship, Jake moved to Virginia where he completed his required internship.

They found out they were pregnant in the middle of Jake’s move and not long afterward he proposed. “Of course I said yes!” Jessica says. They are now preparing to move to Kansas, where they will raise their son near friends and family. Jake is going to grad school to pursue a career in federal law enforcement and Jessica will be fortunate to be a stay at home mom and complete her degree in business administration. For all of their service to our country and Jake’s continued service in the law enforcement field, I was grateful to provide Jessica with a maternity mini session in celebrating the milestone of reaching 500 fans.

Thank you, too, to all of you who “stalk” my blog, Fan my Facebook page and offer so much support to me. I so appreciate my clients, family and friends  – thank you!

Know someone deserving of a mini session? Nominate them by emailing me at amy@amysandovalphotography.com – and “Like” the Facebook page so we’ll get to 600 as fast as we can!

Here’s a sneak peek at Jessica’s session – more photos hitting the blog from her session soon! (She takes the pregnant glow to radiant!)

Gorgeous, as always! I’m totally a “stalker”! LOL!

Find out how you can help someone win a free mini portrait session!

Are you on Facebook? If so, now is the time to “like” (remember when it was “fan”!?) my Facebook fan page! It’s here – http://www.facebook.com/amysandovalphotography

Why now? I’m at a little over 500 fans and when I get to 600 fans I am giving away a free mini portrait session to a deserving person or family.  The faster I get to 600 fans the faster someone wins! If everyone who subscribes to this blog via email, RSS, etc. “liked” me on Facebook we’d be there in no time – it’s easy!

Do you know someone who deserves this mini session? I’ve had some beautiful nominations and I will continue to take nominations until I reach 600 fans. If you’d like to nominate someone, please email me at amy@amysandovalphotography.com – or if it’s easier, click on “Contact” at the top of this page and send me a note that way.

I’ll tell you later this week about the wonderful winner of the mini session that I gave away when I hit 500 fans. And will I give away another one at 700 fans? Just wait and see!

(And one more from Taylor’s high school senior session just for fun!)

Detail Friday: Autumn Leaves

I took a few snapshot-style photos of the beautiful fall color during a recent shoot. I love photographing the colors of this time of year. So in honor of fall, I will be sharing a fall-themed photo for you to download as a desktop background for the next several Detail Fridays!

The first photo below is available for download in the following sizes:
1024×768
1152×864
1280×768
All other screen resolutions (large file, may need adjusting in your control panel, display settings)

Instructions:
Click on the link that matches the screen resolution on your computer. When the photo comes up, make sure it’s the original size by clicking the magnifying glass if you see one. You should then see the photo large. Now, right-click on the photo and choose “Save as Background.” It should then become your desktop background!

Facebook: The Re-connect zone

Since I do not need another thing to do online, I’ve been denying the power of Facebook. Some of my friends joined and talked about how great it was to re-connect with high school and college friends, but still…I didn’t give in. But a girl who is online just about all day can only hold out so long.

I can now say that I’ve been on Facebook for a couple of months and I’m an addict! I love catching up with people I grew up with – high school friends, college buddies and other photographers. I can’t stop thinking to myself, “Amy is…..” because you can update your Facebook status anytime – “Amy is blogging about Facebook!” I love that my friend’s birthday reminders are right on the homepage. And the “virtual” options allow you to go out for margaritas with the girls without leaving the computer (or give someone good karma, etc.). It’s addictive, but in a good way.

Are you on Facebook? You can find me by joining the Amy Sandoval Photography page. The more people who join, the more fun to be had. Come on…. you know you want to!
