{Mini Portrait Session Winner} Giving back to Those Who Give

I’ve been running a little “contest” on my Facebook fan page (What? You’re not a fan? Join us now!) and promised that when I got to 600 fans I would give away a portrait mini session to a deserving individual or family. I received a lot of wonderful nominees and it was not easy to choose the winner.

I’m happy to announce that Lisa Byard and her son will receive a free portrait mini session in September. Thanks a ton to each of you who invited your friends to be a fan and nominated people for the mini session. Lisa is a single mom who works full time and still finds time to give back to the community in many ways. She recently won Volunteer of the Year from the Navy League and works with the USO – often sitting at the airport with soldiers on their way to deployments. I look forward to sharing more about Lisa when I post a peek into her session in a few weeks!

Now is a great time to become a Facebook fan. I’ve announced my Fall Family Mini Session dates there and not here yet - to give fans a chance to book first.  I will be announcing the Family Mini Sessions here in another few days IF I have any available – they’re going fast!

{My Girl} Spur of the Moment Photos

Olivia helped me test my off camera lighting today and we ended up getting some really fun shots, so I decided to share a few. Keep in mind that I didn’t wardrobe assist her for this, so the outfit is totally Olivia. :) I know my sister will be so happy to see Olivia wearing the hat she gave her!

Thanks, Ruth! Just realized that she’s wearing flip flops that should also look very familiar to you. Years after you guys gave ‘em to us. Her feet as just now getting in them!

{Session Schedule Update} Get ‘Em While They’re Hot!

I’m once again blessed with client opportunities coming out of the woodwork but cursed with not enough time! So I figure it’s time for a schedule update for the rest of 2010.

I’m currently booked through July/August as well as October. I am probably going to have one additional opening for a September portrait-session but for a session that can be flexible as I’m awaiting some final out-of-office dates in September. (So newborn/maternity probably won’t work as they’re less flexible.) I do hope to schedule a boudoir marathon in September, more will be posted on the Curves Boudoir blog when I have dates to announce.

I’m likely not scheduling for November or December this year so I can take a nice long break for the holiday season.

Since the availability for portrait sessions is drying up for 2010, I am going to offer Fall family/child mini sessions. This will probably be the only opportunity left for family and child sessions. I think they’ll probably go fast! Want to be the first to know when these sessions open up? Join the Facebook fan page – I am going to give them the first news flash on the Fall mini session dates! I will announce the Fall mini session dates next week on Facebook. If there are leftover sessions available I will post more details here.

I will also be announcing the 600th fan winning mini-session this week. Don’t know about this? I announced not too long ago that when I reached 600 fans on Facebook I’d give away a mini session to a deserving individual or family. That milestone is here! And I’ve received many amazing nominations, so I’ll be picking the winner soon. Thank you to everyone who suggested the page to their friends.

Find out how you can help someone win a free mini portrait session!

Are you on Facebook? If so, now is the time to “like” (remember when it was “fan”!?) my Facebook fan page! It’s here – http://www.facebook.com/amysandovalphotography

Why now? I’m at a little over 500 fans and when I get to 600 fans I am giving away a free mini portrait session to a deserving person or family.  The faster I get to 600 fans the faster someone wins! If everyone who subscribes to this blog via email, RSS, etc. “liked” me on Facebook we’d be there in no time – it’s easy!

Do you know someone who deserves this mini session? I’ve had some beautiful nominations and I will continue to take nominations until I reach 600 fans. If you’d like to nominate someone, please email me at amy@amysandovalphotography.com – or if it’s easier, click on “Contact” at the top of this page and send me a note that way.

I’ll tell you later this week about the wonderful winner of the mini session that I gave away when I hit 500 fans. And will I give away another one at 700 fans? Just wait and see!

(And one more from Taylor’s high school senior session just for fun!)

Exxxxtremely Limited Availability Through the Rest of 2009!

Dear Clients and Potential Clients,

It isn’t often you’ll hear someone complain about having two jobs they really enjoy. I am lucky enough to be in that very situation. And both jobs have kept me on my toes this year. Photography is not so much a job as a creative passion. It’s what keeps me thinking outside the box and helps keep my creative juices flowing.

Most days I’m still secretly amazed and always honored that people are paying me to photograph their beautiful moments. And it always pains me to turn away clients when I’m booked up – it feels like an opportunity that I’m being forced to pass up. But… I am the keeper of my own destiny. And when I sit at the computer at 2:40 a.m. for a second night in a row – I know things have to change.

It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve made the decision to suspend booking portrait sessions or wedding coverage through the end of 2009. I have already been blessed to have filled the months between now and then to the capacity that I can realistically manage without pulling more all-nighters. :)

If things calm down in the fall, I may open up some availability, so if you’d like me to contact you about setting up a November session, let me know.  I am also happy to recommend some amazing photographers in this area – and I will be more than willing to share their contact information, so please email me if you would like additional leads.

And brides – I book weddings well in advance – so don’t be afraid to contact me about a 2010 wedding.

I have big hopes for 2010, too. I’m working towards having my own natural light studio by that time – and look forward to seeing how that allows me to improve even more. Growing artistically and technically are two of the biggest goals I have as a photographer – thank you for sticking with me through this journey!
