{6 Months Old} Virginia Beach Family Portrait Session

Six months is such a fun age – smiles, learning to sit up, beginning to babble and so much interest in the world. I met this family to capture Caitlyn at 6 months. I love that she’s got her toes in her mouth for many of the photos – hey, it’s a trick she’s mastered! I shot several of them from above her and it almost looks upside down, but I love the effect. (And they can be “flipped” if her parents prefer!) She’s obviously such a cherished addition to their family. Loved watching her parents play with her. Here are more photos from her session:

{First Preview} Family Portrait Session in Virginia Beach

This is outside my typical style and that makes me happy! I’ve been loving this lens (the Canon 24mm 1.4 L) since I got it a few months ago and I think I’m just now really recognizing its potential. So here’s a first look from a fun family session at the end of last week, courtesy of the Canon 24mm wide angle lens. Isn’t this fun?!

Sneak Peek: Baby Girl

I had the pleasure of photographing a rare weekday session on Monday with a beautiful family who welcomed a new baby girl into their fold. Her nursery was a pink and girly dream – including this wonderful butterfly mobile. I had to get an “artsy” shot of it. She was a joy to photograph – slept through all of my baby wrangling position changes and even let me take a few more in “the bowl” before she decided it was feeding time again. For mom and dad and big brother – enjoy these sneak peeks and your online gallery is coming soon!

Couldn’t decide between a preview of the black and white or color shot – so you get both!

Detail Friday: Baby Details

From a recent newborn session – showed you a few from his session earlier but wanted to share the adorable little newborn details. Love his biggg yawn – he definitely thought he might not sleep, but alas, we worked some magic and he went to sleep. Love his little lips and those teeny, flaky fingers. That is the thing about newborns, sometimes they’re perfect in their inperfections – the little red blotches and sucking blisters and flaky skin are part of their sweet, milky-smelling charm! Then we’ve got the sausage toes with mom and dad’s beautiful wedding rings and finally…you can’t deny the soft, downy hair. Newborns, I love their little details.
