Olivia recently got new glasses and I wanted to share some recent photos. These are her first non-wire frames and she looks positively grown up! She’s been in glasses since age two and they are such a part of who she is now.
I’ve had lots of practice photographing Olivia in glasses, which comes in handy when I do a session with a child in glasses. Photographing people wearing glasses can be a little tricky because of the potential for glare. Here are some quick tips to help.
A couple of quick tips for photographing people in glasses:
- When possible do not use your flash. If you have a diffuser and/or can “bounce” your flash in a different direction to avoid flashing off the glasses, that’s the way to go. (This is true for shooting towards a mirror, windows or other items that will reflect the flash back to the camera.
- Before you take their photo, have the person turn slightly to the left or right and note how the glare on their lenses changes. Shoot from the position with the least glare.
- It also helps to shoot from a little above or a little below the person.
- Avoid harsh/hard light when possible, as the more light you have, the more opportunity for glare you can have – so if you’re in full sun and there’s shade available, head for the shade!

Awww! i loveeee taking pics too .. and these are so adorablee!

This little addition to the Ghent section of Norfolk gave his parents a bit of a scare, but bounced back and had me at “sneeze!” The first photo caught one of his sneezes in progress! (Note that since he was in the buff, it is carefully cropped for the web!)
I love the second photo – look at him studying his hand. Ah, discovery! He also got to play dress-up in Mom’s traditional Indian jewelry and with mom and dad’s wedding rings. This is always a favorite shot – it shows off the petite little piggies. Soon you’ll wonder how his feet could have been so tiny.
The “monkey baby” pose was a challenge this time around - this little guy was not quite sure about falling asleep with all the excitement going on around him. But eventually, tummy full and room warm, he gave in and we were able to get the photo on dad’s arm. Look at that peaceful, blissed-out face! (This session was shot just one week ago on one of the last warm days before the cold snap – hard to believe we had to turn on the air conditioner to cool off!)
I also captured the newest generation with his mom and dad and his grandmother – mom’s mom. I love how each of them interacted with him – an absolute glow on their faces. He is truly the light of their eye.
Congratulations to Mom and Dad – I enjoyed spending the afternoon with you all! Your online gallery is right around the corner!
