Photographers love to photograph newborns within a couple of weeks of their birth while they’re still very sleepy and easy to manipulate. You can curl up their tiny legs right under them and they sleep right through it since that’s exactly how they like to sleep while still hanging in mom’s belly. But…sometimes…they aren’t so sleepy…and in fact they are wide awake! This little guy was ready for his session with open eyes and lots of interest in what was going on.
We got a few photos of him at the first session but decided to try another day for the rest of his session in hopes that he’d be more sleepy. And he slept just long enough for some adorable photos in the buff and with mom and dad. Here’s a sneek peak – check out his gorgeous blue eyes and that sweet hat. And the minute I saw the trunk decore I knew I had to plop him in it for a few cute photos!

When Tidewater Parent called me a few weeks ago about supplying a photo for a layout, I had no idea they were going to feature my business in the spread. I’m so honored to be included in their Father’s Day gift ideas article in the June 2009 issue. It’s a wonderful publication and one of the few local parenting-oriented ones in our area.
I love hearing from families who are looking for something different for their portraits – something memorable and creative. There are so many picturesque locations in our area to take family photos – if you’re interested in breaking out of the studio for your next family photos, give me a call!

My fourth and final session with this fun family took place at the Virginia Beach oceanfront. I’ve gotten to know all three of them, watched them become loving first-time parents and will really miss them as they make their way back to Canada. You know it’s going to be fun when dad brings hair product to spike the baby’s hair. And this little guy has the deepest, best brown eyes I’ve seen in a long time – not to mention killer lashes!
