{Maybe THIS is Fashion!} Indian River High School Senior Session First Peek

I know some of you are photographers and you’ll appreciate this. Whenever I create a LightRoom processing look that I like, I create a new preset and give it a cute name. Some of them are based on location, like my “Maternity Session in a Field Preset” and some are based on the look, like “Amy’s Vintage Beach Preset.” I’ve been working on creating a preset that really embodies the Vogue magazine-style fashion processing. Not quite as extreme, but something similar. While processing last night’s senior session, I created two new presets. Their names? “Amy’s Maybe this is fashion?” and then “Amy’s Maybe THIS is fashion!”  I love how the lighting, backdrop and processing came together to create the more fashion-magazine look. Let me know what you think!

Enough about processing! Let me give you a quick introduction to Emily – also known as Em: She’s second in her class at Indian River High School, on the volleyball team and involved in many additional pursuits. She’s interested in going to the University of Virginia and I have no doubt they’d be lucky to have her. She’s gorgeous, smart and incredibly down to earth. I look forward to sharing more photos from her session later this week. For now, one quick peek!

The “Secret Location” Session with Olivia

A session with Olivia – we’ve been long overdue to get out for some photos. She helped me test the light at this new, secret location that a fellow photographer was kind enough to share with me. (Thank you, Catie!) Olivia “styled” this session herself and I think my favorite addition is the yellow bracelet she’s wearing as an ankle bracelet! I asked Olivia to bring something with her that meant a lot to her and she brought New Bear. This guy has been many places with her for at least the last 4 years. He’s slowly spending more time at home and I was glad to record his importance in her life before she outgrows bringing him on trips. She also lost a second tooth the morning after we took these, so it was the last set of photos with her missing just one. Things change so fast at this age, but I love it.

Sneak Peek: Baby Girl

I had the pleasure of photographing a rare weekday session on Monday with a beautiful family who welcomed a new baby girl into their fold. Her nursery was a pink and girly dream – including this wonderful butterfly mobile. I had to get an “artsy” shot of it. She was a joy to photograph – slept through all of my baby wrangling position changes and even let me take a few more in “the bowl” before she decided it was feeding time again. For mom and dad and big brother – enjoy these sneak peeks and your online gallery is coming soon!

Couldn’t decide between a preview of the black and white or color shot – so you get  both!

Gorgeous! I love the image you posted two of – the colour and the b/w version – I wouldn’t be able to choose between them either :)

Detail Friday: Baby Details

From a recent newborn session – showed you a few from his session earlier but wanted to share the adorable little newborn details. Love his biggg yawn – he definitely thought he might not sleep, but alas, we worked some magic and he went to sleep. Love his little lips and those teeny, flaky fingers. That is the thing about newborns, sometimes they’re perfect in their inperfections – the little red blotches and sucking blisters and flaky skin are part of their sweet, milky-smelling charm! Then we’ve got the sausage toes with mom and dad’s beautiful wedding rings and finally…you can’t deny the soft, downy hair. Newborns, I love their little details.

As a reminder, I’m still going to give away a free mini portrait session to a deserving person, couple, family, etc. when I reach 600 fans on Facebook. The numbers are growing and we need you to join us! Come “fan” my Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/amysandovalphotography

Okay – I admit it, the first one is really just ’cause I love it so. The hat, oh, that hat!

Family Session: 17-Month-Old Cutie

Just a few from last week’s family session. This little guy is seriously cute. He started out a little shy but warmed up and had lots of smiles to share. Mom and dad were so cute with him and we all really enjoyed the evening with perfect weather, too. Here are a few sneak peeks and more to come soon!
