Boudoir Ideas: Making the most of accessories

First, a thank you to this client for giving me permission to share some of her photos with you. She will be giving her soon-to-be husband an album of photos from her session for his wedding present. He is going to faint!

Second, if you’re interested in a session, I am now booking for a boudoir marathon on Saturday, June 12. I’ve booked one of my favorite locations for the date! I truly only have a few spots left, so don’t wait too long if you’d like to book a session. All the details including pricing and a detailed FAQ are available on the Curves Boudoir site at http://www.curvesboudoir.com

I love this session for how the client really put together her outfit choices. Her beautiful necklace was a statement all to itself, but also worked beautifully with one of his favorite shirts. She also changed into the gorgeous set she’ll wear on her honeymoon as well as the garter for the wedding. What a great way to pull in the sentimental elements of the wedding into her session.

The other thing I love is how beautiful her hair is from all angles. And she was able to easily take her hair down for the last few photos to make them even more naturally sensual. I typically shy away from showing many photos with more skin, but in this case I’m glad I can share them so you can see how “implied nude” can be so tastefully done. What I love about shooting boudoir is that it doesn’t have to be over the top dramatic to be sexy and eye-popping. Well-placed hands and legs can make a photo very hawttt!

Curves Boudoir: From a Client’s Point of View

After my Curves Boudoir session with Kimberly in January she approached me about writing a testimonial specifically for the blog to let other clients know how much she enjoyed her session. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get it on the blog!

Let me tell you a little bit about Kimberly. She is a successful business woman who is also a gorgeous, confident woman. She came to this session with specific ideas and we had a great time making them come to life. I love her confidence and how it radiates from her images. The session was fun and full of life, just like Kimberly!

I’ll let you in on a little secret – some of my most comfortable, confident clients are not the 20-somethings that you might expect – they are the gorgeous women who have a little more life experience under their belt. :) Their bodies are beautiful and they maintain their fab figures with hard work and dedication (yep, most of them are runners!).  Many of my clients are moms and sometimes grandmothers and they’re hot! My favorite part is that they embrace their beauty and they do not sweat every imperfection. I’ve often thought that men would be in trouble if we women had the confidence of our 30s and 40s in our teenage to 20-something years. Wouldn’t that change things??!

Interested in a session? I just opened up a June 12 marathon date and am now scheduling sessions for that day. Email me if you’d like to reserve or get more details – amy@amysandovalphotography.com

I’m honored that Kimberly wanted to share her experience and here are her words and some photos from her beautiful session.

I want to enthusiastically encourage any woman who might be looking for a great gift (even if it’s for herself) – let Amy take your picture.  Gosh, me in lingerie (and sometimes less) AND a record of it had me a bit nervous, but if you are even a teensy bit adventurous and not opposed to stretching your comfort zone this is definitely the experience.  This was soooo much fun!

From the beginning of my interaction with Amy she was sweet, helpful and professional.  She and her staff helped me to feel very comfortable; I felt like a supermodel if only for few hours. As a Type-A kind of girl, it was difficult to relinquish control of my hair and makeup and show up “nude”, but Krystal was professional and consulted with me about what and how I normally wore my hair and makeup and simply over-emphasized “ME” for the photos…..looking in the mirror I wasn’t sure (as I don’t wear a ton of makeup), but when the photos arrived….WOW….I really didn’t think I could ever look so beautiful…girlfriends have commented that the photos look like something out of Vogue…tasteful, artsy and very sexy.

This was far and away a wonderfully fun experience and would highly recommend Amy Sandoval….oh, and so would my boyfriend!!!  ;-)

Curves Boudoir: Virginia Beach Boudoir Session Featured

From my Curves Boudoir sessions in January – this wonderful client has given me permission to share some of her photos. I’m so appreciative to clients who allow me to share photos from their sessions – it provides a lot of insight for other women thinking about booking a session.

The next sessions will be held in April 9 and 10 – I have a waiting list and hope to open up another spot or two for that weekend. But if you need a session for another time, let me know. I am now scheduling individual sessions as needed – those sessions still include professional hair/makeup. For more info, see the Curves Boudoir website at http://curvesboudoir.squarespace.com – it includes full pricing, a great FAQ about how sessions work and what to expect as well as lots more photos. Be sure to click on the “Click to continue reading” link to see this session’s featured photos.

Curves Boudoir Post Peek: Take 2

People who know me well often ask, “How’d you get into shooting boudoir?”

Well, it’s a national trend, as I’ve mentioned before, and one that I immediately wanted to try. And one that I’ve really embraced. Not only do I love working with women of all ages, shapes and sizes and giving them the opportunity to see how truly beautiful they are, but I love the creative freedom that comes with this style of photography.

For me, boudoir isn’t just about sex appeal, it’s also about creating a feeling. I read a ton of fashion magazines for photographic inspiration. I apply post-processing techniques to many of the photos to give them the fashion-magazine look. Vintage processing, contrasty black and white photos and special attention to retouching make these photos more than just beauty shots.

Tonight I’ll share one photo that I fell in love with the moment I saw it pop up on my computer screen while downloading. I love the way her legs are bent – the way the animal-print on the shoe peeks out ever so slightly behind one foot. This reminds me of the Tyra Banks “broken down doll” look she so often talks about on America’s Next Top Model! And the shot inspired me to apply a  black and white process that really makes the grain in the photo sing – and there’s a hint of “vanilla” added to this black and white, so it’s not as dark as a traditional black and white.

Stay tuned for more sneak peeks this week – including some fab faces. It’s gonna be fun!

If you’re interested in booking a session, contact me by email (amy at amysandovalphotography.com) now to get on the email list for February session info. I plan to announce February dates right after Christmas. Sessions typically sell out to the folks on the email list – so get on the list today for an opportunity to grab a spot!

I Really enjoyed your portfolio. Your experience is evident through your work. I love how you’ve found these women in their elements and put them into a very retro feel. The grain and contrast enhancements compliment the models greatly. Kudos!
