Virginia Beach Engagement Photographer: The “Already Married” Session

Sarah contacted me a few months ago and we originally planned on photographing their session in the sticky, humid, hot month of June. As the date got closer, Sarah changed the date to October to avoid the summer heat, so technically it was after their wedding. (And yes, the weather was way better when we shot their session last weekend!) Sarah and Josh were married in Louisville, KY, (that’s pronounced “LU-i-vul” and not “Lu-EE-ville” like I say it!) where they are both from and have been dating since high school. There’s something special about couples who grow up together through those teenage years when you’re still finding yourself.

So for Sarah, who immediately admitted to me that she’s one of my “blog stalkers” – I now present a sneak peek of their “already married and totally meant to be” session. :)

They have such a natural ease and comfort around one another. Love how that projects right out in their photos.

Josh’s last name (and Sarah’s too now!) is Duckworth – so ducks played a part in their wedding theme. She brought their bride/groom ducks for a few fun shots as well.

Love the Spanish Moss that hangs from the trees at First Landing State Park. Did you know it’s the northern-most area of the United States where Spanish Moss grows?

Love this part of First Landing State Park. The light just before sunset is amazing.

Sarah brought photos of she and Josh as children – such a great idea.

Yes, as anyone who has had a session with me can imagine, I was so excited about the light and color here. :) Add Sarah and Josh and it’s a favorite.

I didn’t know Spanish moss grew here in Virginia! I was born in Louisiana, where there is moss a-plenty, but I grew up in Virginia. I just learned something new! :)

The “We got married already” engagement session!

Reannon contacted me a couple of months ago about an engagement session. But when she emailed me more recently she had a bit of fun news… “As you can see from my email address change, my name has changed…we got married on October 1…so this will actually be a post-wedding photo session!” So congratulations to the happy couple are in order!

Reannon and Jay could not have been more fun. They were playful, adorable and a joy to photograph. I love that the trees are peaking in autumn color in our area, too. As I wrap up my client sessions for the year over the next week or so, I’m reminded how much I love doing this. This session along with the last few sessions and weddings I’ve photographed have reminded me how lucky I am to be doing this.

Here’s your sneak peek Reannon and Jay – your gallery is coming soon!

It may be the P.m.s. Talking but these photos ” make-a me cry”!
So beautiful, I feel like I am a little mushroom right in the forest with you. Reannon, did you know Jay when he sported long hair and a bandana ” Bon Jovi” style? The short cut is a bit more dignified. Love u guys!!!!!

{After-The-Wedding Session} Fort Story Wedding Photography

More from Beth and Rob’s after-the-wedding session. I photographed their wedding at Fort Story a couple of months ago and since we didn’t get the bride and groom photos we wanted that day, we met up again and recreated the day. We all agreed that the follow-up session was a great opportunity to really enjoy the surroundings, pose with more thought and general take more time. It’s also a chance to get more bridal-style portraits as well. (Check out Beth’s gorgeous photos below!)

I enjoyed it so much that I would love to offer these sessions anytime. If you would like to set up this type of session, please let me know. I will extend a discount from my normal portrait session fee for these sessions since you’ve already invested in wedding day photos.
